Websites that are annoying

Published by under General

This is a quick rant about some common annoyances I come across on websites… SnapShots – these are those annoying JavaScript popup windows which appear when you hover your mouse over a link. In theory they are supposed to help you by proving a thumbnail screenshot of the site being linked to, but in practice […]

Scoopit is NZ’s own social news site

Published by under Internet

I had no idea that NZ had its own Digg-like social news website. It’s called Scoopit, and the blurb from their blog is: Scoopit is a collection of links submitted and ranked by readers. Submit your own Scoop. View and vote for unpublished Scoops submitted by others. There’s not much content on there yet as […]

Microsoft site hacked

Published by under Internet

Several sites are reporting that a Microsoft France site was hacked and defaced. The site is currently down so it appears as though Microsoft have taken it offline to firefight. A mirror of the defaced site can be found here: zone-h.org.

New Zealand blog listing

Published by under Internet

My latest blogging venture is to create a site listing all of the blogs that are based in New Zealand. I’ve created the NZ Blogs site on Blogtown NZ which is the free, blogging service that I’ve set up to make it easy for New Zealanders to start their own, local blog. I can’t track […]

New Simpla theme with Widgets

Published by under General

I recently realised that this blog had become a bit of a virtual dumping ground, filled with junk I had been collecting from around the internet. It's always tempting to stick a new blog button, or affiliates advertising logo, or some other 'cool' service that requires a bit of javascript on your site. So I've […]

Google Maps now include NZ

It’s been a while since I’ve last posted, it’s been a busy couple of weeks. I’ve been working on the Blogtown site a bit recently too and I’ve just released a major overhaul to the front page and registration system. I’ve opened up registrations for now, but may suspend them again depending on the number […]

Web users only visit six sites

Published by under Infrastructure

Just found this article via the Digg site: Web users ‘only visit six sites’. Interesting that I read this just after posting an article on my beta @ amanzi website called: “Best, new web services available.” There’s eight sites there that I visit all the time, but only another few that I would visit on […]

Have a look at coComment

Published by under General

I’ve been getting a few comments on the site recently which I always enjoy. Not all the comments have been positive, but that’s OK – it’s all about engaging conversation. I highly recommend to anyone commenting on this site or any other blogging system to use coComment. It’s a free service that you can use […]
