Back home after a great night with the Wellington bloggers at The Cross.

I bought my fourth iPod this week, completing the family of iPods that we have. This one is a 1GB iPod Shuffle, which joins the classic shaped, 60GB iPod with Video, 4GB iPod Nano (I bought this one for Deb), and the beautiful 8GB iPod Touch. Hopefully I can extend the family again next year if/when the iPhone becomes available here.

The shuffle is an amazingly simple mp3 player and just wonderfully designed. Everything about it is amazing – the price, the packaging, the out of box experience… it all works so well. Even the headphones that come with it sound surprisingly great with rich, deep sound that lets you appreciate the entire range.

When I connected it to iTunes for the first time, I remembered how iTunes displays the actual colour of the iPod attached in the main window:

When I pointed out how cool that was to Deb, she just shrugged her shoulders and asked what the point of that was..? I guess there’s no real reason to do it, but it just makes the whole experience that little bit better.

There is another meetup for Wellington bloggers on Thursday, 29th (tomorrow) at the Southern Cross Bar on Abel Smith Street.

We’ve got the Cocaine Alley booked out for us, which is the area on the right when you walk in with two big tables and long benches. There’s a group and event posted on Facebook, but this isn’t exclusive for people on Facebook – if you’ve got a blog and you live in Wellington, then pop in to the Southern Cross bar tomorrow from 6pm.

Just a few site updates…

1. I’ve started putting all my photos back on Flickr which has been made much easier due to Windows Live Photo Gallery providing support for publishing direct to Flickr, including sets, tags, and descriptions. So I’ve re-enabled the FAlbum plugin which displays all my Flickr photos on this site: http://stuart.amanzi.co.nz/photos
2. I’ve updated my About page with all of the contact details and websites I could think of off the top of my head. I want to get this into a microformat at some point.
3. I’ve implemented the AJAX version of Google’s Custom Search engine for this site which allows you to search the site from the widget in the top left corner of this page. This is all done using a nifty overlay so you don’t have to refresh the page to do the search. Try it for yourself…

I’ve only just started blogging about Agile methodologies and the very next day, I see the following cartoon published on the Dilbert site:

I thought that Xero had released a Firefox extension when this showed up in a search for Xero:

But it’s a version of Firefox with integrated plugins that provide additional security and privacy features.
