Apology from Plaxo

Published by under General

My previous post about Plaxo joined in with the blogosphere’s opinion that Plaxo needed to apologise for their spam they had knowingly sent out. This morning I discovered that Plaxo’s CEO had made a full, public apology – even to the point of making a dig at themselves with a picture of flying pigs in […]

No more spam from Plaxo

Published by under General

Plaxo have made a couple of high visibility blog posts today saying that they are restricting the amount of automatic emails (a.k.a. SPAM) get sent out by users of their service. This seems like a good thing but it’s the way that they went about it that is leaving a bad taste in people’s mouths. […]

Published by under Infrastructure

Microsoft have finally taken the wraps off their much-hyped project, Origami. Turns out that it’s the same device that Intel showed yesterday and Samsung today. Microsoft are calling it the UMPC and I am very under-whelmed with it. It’s a small, touch-screen computer that runs Windows XP Tablet PC edition. It has 2 – 3 […]

Enable WPA2 in Windows XP SP2

Published by under Infrastructure

In a previous post I mentioned that I setup WPA2 wireless security on my Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I didn’t mention though that you need Windows XP SP2 and an update from the Microsoft Support site to get it working from the client-side. The update and related article can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893357

Beta software

Published by under General

I’ve been playing around with a lot of beta software recently – this also includes beta services that are popping up all the time from the new “Web 2.0” companies. I can’t remember a time when I’ve seen so much beta stuff around at once. The word beta used to be reserved for pre-release software […]

Measure Map purchased by Google

Published by under Infrastructure

News just in… Measure Map has been purchased by Google for an (as yet) unknown price. This will be a nice addtion to the Google Analytics software that Google also purchased recently. Measure Map, however, is more focused on bloggers – providing the essential stats that bloggers are after. The interesting thing about this purchase, […]
