The world doesn't need an Apple tablet

Published by under General

Joe Wilcox sets himself up for failure (once again). The gist of his article is that Tablets are a niche product because nobody else has managed to get them right so far, and thus, Apple’s tablet will also never be more than a niche product.

For all the hype about an Apple tablet , it is at best a niche product. The world doesn’t need an Apple tablet, no matter what the hype about rumored features or regardless of what actually releases (if anything).

Don’t worry if you don’t know “absolutely everything”

Published by under General

As with all advice, take with a pinch of salt.

A lot of people massively postpone their EVIL PLANS, for the simple reason that they don’t have an answer for every possible contingency.

They don’t know enough about the industry. They don’t know enough people in the industry—especially the A-Listers. They don’t know enough about where the market is going to be in five years. They don’t know enough about what could possibly go wrong. They don’t know where EVERY SINGLE LAST POSSIBLE LANDMINE is buried.

The Zune HD, which received rave reviews from all the gadget blogs, has now become an almost-ran.

Amazon’s list of Bestsellers in Electronics has the iPod touch in the second and third spot, (8GB and 32GB models), while the Zune HD (32GB) languishes at number 89.

Retrieving Windows Password Hashes with WinScanX

Published by under General

Uses remote registry and the Cain & Able tool to crack passwords hashes on remote machines without needing to install anything.

With WinScanX (and the help of Cain & Able | http://www.oxid.it/) you can retrieve the password hashes, LSA secrets, and MS CACHE hashes from a remote machine without copying a single file to the remote host. This way the LSASS.exe process won’t be touched and anti-virus applications won’t have the chance to interfere.

Blank Slate

Published by under General

John Gruber on designing your blog template:

Default templates are terrific for people who can’t or don’t want to design their own — but they’re terrible starting points for anyone attempting to establish their own unique brand. If you start with nothing, you’re forced to think about everything.

Seasons Greetings

Published by under General

The past year has been extremely busy and filled with highs and lows, none of which I’ll dwell on right now. This is just a short note to wish all readers a Merry Christmas and hope you have a safe and happy holiday. Next year I’ll be reviving this blog with a new look and feel, and will be posting regularly on a range of topics but with a focus on technology and how it can help small businesses in NZ.
